Join us for Red Deer's signature floating pride parade, the Fruit Float!
We'll launch at Fort Normandeau at 8 a.m. and float to Bower Ponds. Dress proud and bring your fruitiest floaties! There will be free Tim Hortons coffee and snacks available on site before we launch. And, watch for live music on the riverbank as the float begins!
You don't have to be out to come out! Everyone is invited to come down and float the Red Deer river in celebration of the diversity and inclusion in our community. We're excited to have a group from Kraze 101.3 FM and X 100.7 FM leading the way!
If you're new to river floating, we recommend:
- Arrive early to ensure enough time to inflate your boat and get everything (and everyone) ready to launch, and to enjoy a hot cup of Tim Horton's coffee which may be needed on this early Sunday morning
- Pack: paddles, life jackets, towels, hats, sunscreen, snacks and beverages for along the way. Note: Littering and alcoholic beverages will not be tolerated. Please plan to gather any snack wrappers or drink containers and dispose of them appropriately after the float.
- Pay attention: The Red Deer River is a gentle river, but there are islands, rocks, trees and bridges that you'll want to avoid during the float. Bring at least one paddle.
- Arrange for transportation home from Bower Ponds after the float (or back to your vehicle at Fort Normandeau)
